A PLACE FULL OF HISTORY, IN A SECULAR BUILDING, IN LARGO DA LUZ, IN CARNIDE.
A gastronomic paradise in the former Freires Convent of the Military Order of Our Lord Jesus Christ, managed by the Military College Former Students Association.
The parish of Carnide, situated in the extreme north of Lisbon’s municipality, was
visited and frequented by all members of the nobility, as well as by members of the
royal house, summering at their local estates. A place of recent archaeological finds,
large farms, convents, and churches.
An ancient annual open-air market, or fair, is held here, and religious festivities are
celebrated in the old Sanctuary of “Nossa Senhora da Luz”, now the church of “Nossa
Senhora da Luz de Carnide”.
The Restaurant “Jardim da Luz” occupies this former Convent since 2003. A new
management since the beginning of the year has invested in modernizing the place’s
physical structure and perfecting the traditional Portuguese gastronomy.
With capacity for about 290 people, it offers 2 private and a main dining room, all with
the building’s original vaulted ceilings. It also has a terrace with garden, and a free
private parking lot.
But the biggest temptation in this restaurant, is its sublime gastronomy!
